About the Role

BenchApp, a sports team management app, is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build and maintain automated testing systems for our cross-platform Expo monorepo (React Native + Expo Web). You’ll ensure high code quality and a seamless experience for coaches, players, and parents by implementing automated tests across mobile and web.

This role will focus on automating test coverage (unit, integration, and end-to-end), integrating QA into CI/CD pipelines, and helping developers catch issues before they reach production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated tests for React Native (mobile) and Expo Web applications

• Implement end-to-end (E2E) testing using tools like Playwright, Detox, or Cypress

• Automate regression testing to ensure stability during frequent deployments

• Integrate testing into CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, EAS, etc.)

• Monitor and improve test reliability, speed, and coverage

• Collaborate with developers and product teams to refine requirements and test strategies

• Maintain a balance between manual exploratory testing and automation

Requirements

• Proven experience in QA automation for web and/or mobile applications

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha

• Hands-on experience with end-to-end testing tools like Playwright, Detox, or Cypress

• Familiarity with React and React Native ecosystems

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

• Strong debugging and analytical skills

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Expo projects (mobile + web)

• Knowledge of API testing with tools like Postman, supertest, or Pact

• Experience with performance and load testing (k6, JMeter, etc.)

• Exposure to cloud platforms (Cloudflare Workers, AWS, etc.)
